DuPontT Vertrel® X-DA

DuPont™ Vertrel® X-DA is a specially designed displacement drying product developed by DuPont for one-step, low-energy, spot-free drying that is efficient, safe to use, and environmentally responsible. DuPont™ Vertrel® X-DA consists of DuPont™ Vertrel® XF, a fluorosurfactant additive, and an antistatic additive.

Applications

DuPont™ Vertrel® X-DA is widely used as a drying/rinsing agent.

Compatibility and Soils

DuPont™ Vertrel® X-DA is compatible with most plastics and elastomers.

Environmental Properties

DuPont™ Vertrel® X-DA has zero ozone-depletion potential and low global warming potential. It is used extensively to replace CFC-113, methyl chloroform, hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), and perfluorocarbons (PFCs) in several applications.

DuPont™ Vertrel® X-DA has been accepted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) program, as a substitute for ozone-depleting substances. DuPont™ Vertrel® X-DA is VOC compliant under the California South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) regulations, which require VOC content less than 50 g/L of solvent.

The components of DuPont™ Vertrel® X-DA are listed in the TSCA inventory. One component, HFC-43-10mee, is subject to the Significant New Use Rule (SNUR) and should be used only in the applications indicated in the DuPont™ Vertrel® X-DA MSDS regulatory section.

Flammability and Toxicity

DuPont™ Vertrel® X-DA exhibits no closed-cup flash point, and is not classified as a flammable liquid by NFPA or DOT. In addition, the product has no vapor flammability limits in air.

Flash point data and limits of flammability in air provide the user with additional information that should be used as elements of a fire risk assessment and to determine guidelines for safe handling of volatile chemicals. Users should ensure compliance with NFPA standards and local fire codes.

Acute toxicity studies show that DuPont™ Vertrel® X-DA has low toxicity. It could pose a slight skin and eye irritation and has low inhalation toxicity.
